Veridian Expanse

Oil on Canvas 2017

The southern coast of Maine has been a place I have visited and spent summers in since I was about 8. My late aunt, plain air painter Beth Ellis used to take me on painting excursions while she was scouting new places to paint or setting up her easel. It was at the sea where I found myself most humbled by the beauty and most inspired to find a way to capture it. Each painting I do of the ocean I try to find new ways to bring the emotion that overcomes me when looking to the horizon into the work.
