New Works in Progress

I usually like to let the seasons inspire my work – I follow the light, the colors, the feeling in the air. Winter is tricky when it comes to inspiration; although I like to capture the stillness in the cold air and the soft light reflected on snowfall, I sometimes find it hard to keep going in the colder months. This winter I took matters into my own hands and headed south for a bit. I found new inspiration in the colors and tropical wildlife of Southwest Florida. After doing several small studies in the Everglades and Audubon parks I returned to the studio with brighter ideas in mind. Some of the work that has been flowing lately is more abstract interpretations of flowers, sunsets, birds and the general feeling of soaking up the sun. I’m excited about the direction this new body of work is taking and am looking forward to further developing these pieces.
