Commission Custom Work
If you enjoy my style of work, you may be interested in commissioning a custom piece or series for your space. I’m both up for the challenge and more than happy to oblige.
Commissions with Me
I love to paint places and things that are close to people’s hearts. Place can hold so much for people, whether it is a memory of something that happened there, or a feeling of being somewhere special. I love working with people who have a special place in mind that they would like captured. I work in a diverse range of mediums and sizes. Commissions are available in watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Size and price vary depending on the medium and subject. Custom sizes and shapes are possible, with the minimum size for any commissioned work being 8×10 inches.
My Commission Process
When someone reaches out to me requesting a possible commission, the first step is to sit down and discuss their ideas and their needs. We will talk about what exactly you are looking for, and I usually start by asking some simple questions to get a better idea about your needs: What medium and size you are interested in? What does this piece mean to you? What is the most important part of the painting for you? Once I have a sense of what my client is looking for, I will produce 3 mockups or sketches with ideas. When we know we’re on the same page, then it’s time to get creating! On average, once a final concept has been chosen and the paint begins to fly, a single commission typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on size, medium and drying time.
The Fine Print
When the final concept has been selected, I require a down payment of half of the final cost of the painting before I begin. This is for my time and energy put into making the first part of the piece. The second payment is due on delivery of the piece. Once we have worked through the preliminary discussion process I will send an invoice via email for the deposit and a contract outlining the entire commission for both parties to sign.
Details to Know
Shipping is not included in the price of the painting. If you are local we can meet in person in my studio or I can deliver to you! If you’re farther afield we can discuss shipping when working out details of the commission.
If you are unhappy with the final piece in any way, we can always make revisions. Usually this doesn’t happen because we are in touch throughout the whole process. However, there is always a possibility that something might need to be changed. Revisions to a completed piece are charged by the hour at $25/hour.
